Jura, Up Close | November 29
Jura is small, strange, and one of the most fascinating wine regions in France. The wines are made in tiny quantities, many of them are difficult to find, and the best bottles tend to disappear quickly. For our November Wine School, we’re going a little deeper.
We’ve pulled together four bottles that we’re particularly excited to open, including some allocated wines that don’t often make it onto our regular list. We’ll spend the evening tasting through the wines of Jura and getting into what makes them so distinctive, from Savagnin and Chardonnay to oxidative winemaking, Vin Jaune, and the region’s unusual red varieties.
Instead of our usual Wine School snacks, we’ll be serving a selection of Jura-inspired pairings designed specifically for the wines we’re tasting. This is a more in-depth Wine School for people who want to spend a little more time with a region and taste some wines that are hard to come by.
We’ll taste four wines while talking about:
What makes Jura so different from the rest of France
Savagnin, Chardonnay, Poulsard, Trousseau, and Pinot Noir
Sous voile and oxidative winemaking
Vin Jaune and the traditions behind it
Producers who are shaping the modern Jura
Why Jura wines can be so good with food
How the wines of Jura are changing as the region gains a wider audience
Ticket includes a flight of four wines and snacks from our kitchen. Price is inclusive of tax.
Due to the nature of this event, tickets are strictly non-refundable.
