Burgundy, Reconsidered | October 11
Burgundy, Reconsidered
Burgundy is one of those wine regions that can feel like it was designed to keep people out. The names are complicated, the hierarchy is complicated, and the most famous bottles are wildly expensive. But underneath all of that is something much simpler: really good wines that reflect where they come from and are meant to be enjoyed at the table.
We’ll taste wines from Beaujolais, Chablis, and the Mâconnais, and talk about why these places make such different wines, what gives them a sense of place, and how producers shape the way we experience that place.
We’ll also talk about Burgundy as a pairing wine. These are wines that make sense at the table, whether you’re drinking a bottle of Chablis with dinner, Beaujolais with something grilled, or a bottle of Pouilly-Loché with a plate of cheese.
The goal is not to memorize Burgundy’s hierarchy. It’s to understand why the region is so interesting and to leave with a better sense of how to find wines you actually want to drink.
We’ll taste four wines while talking about:
What we mean when we talk about a wine having a sense of place
Why different parts of Burgundy are suited to different grapes and styles
What Beaujolais, Chablis, and the Mâconnais can teach us about Burgundy
Producers who are making thoughtful, place-driven wines
Why Burgundy is such a good pairing wine
How to find interesting Burgundy without spending a fortune
Ticket includes a flight of four wines and snacks from our kitchen. Price is inclusive of tax.
Due to the nature of this event, tickets are strictly non-refundable.
