Chris Cottrell is the effortlessly cool consigliere behind Bedrock Wine Co., a Sonoma-based winery dedicated to preserving California's historic vineyards. Born in Staten Island in 1985, Chris's early passion for food and wine led him from a beer store stock boy to a fine wine buyer at the acclaimed Crush Wine Co. in Manhattan. There, he met Morgan Twain-Peterson MW, and their shared love for wine sparked a lasting friendship.
In 2012, Chris joined Morgan at Bedrock Wine Co., bringing his East Coast flair to the West Coast wine scene. Together, they've championed minimal intervention winemaking, focusing on old vine Zinfandels and field blends that reflect California's diverse terroirs. Their side project, Under the Wire, produces single-vineyard, single-vintage sparkling wines inspired by the grower Champagne movement, showcasing the state's unique vineyards through bubbles.
On May 1, Chris is stepping behind the bar from 5-8pm for a one-night-only takeover at Small Hours. It’s your chance to meet the guy who made Zinfandel cool again.
