Wine list philosophy

The wine list at Small Hours focuses on bottles. We believe the experience of drinking a bottle of wine over the course of a visit is the best way to get to know not just a specific wine,  but also get a feel for a producers style. Wines reflect producers who farm and make wine intentionally, whether that is championing a lesser known variety, taking great care to protect the earth, or dedication to a particular style.

NA options

We feature our favorite sparkling tea and a spritz style sodas.

Cocktails

No cocktails, but a small list of vermouth to be enjoyed simply over ice or with a splash of soda.

Music choices

From global obscurities and far out jazz records, to the big hits of the past and the present, there is good music to be found everywhere. Some nights we focus on full records from the depths of an artist’s catalog, but don’t be surprised when you hear a string of tunes that jumps from Alice Coltrane to Can to Curtis Mayfield, Steve Reich, King Tubby, The Blue Nile and Joni Mitchell. The goal is to present a wide range of music that moves you.

Tips

Because Small Hours is owned and operated by Sarina and Sam, we do not accept gratuity at this time. Sarina and Sam are the only individuals in direct service, meaning the only individuals allowed by law to collect gratuities. We have opted for a 21% service charge instead, which is added to all checks. Pursuant to Minnesota Statute §177.23, Subd. 9, this charge is not a gratuity for direct employee service. This service charge is treated as a revenue line, as are all service charges which are not tips to direct service employees. This revenue line allows us to pay our support and kitchen staff a competitive wage as well as paying rent, utilities, our vendors and other operation costs while offering value driven menu prices.
